Yay! I ran the Terry Fox Run earlier today with my buddies for the very first time!

Stumbled on the event on Facebook and since it was looking like another Sunday spent at home, I called up Kien Yee and Vincent along for the run which was held at Taman Tasik Perdana, KL.

What's this Terry Fox run or who is he? Well, he's a Canadian diagnosed with bone cancer and had his right leg amputated which was replaced by an artificial one. During the 1980s, he had this inspiration of helping other cancer patients and decided to make an effort of running across Canada just to raise funds for cancer research. In the end, the young fella ran a total distance of 5 373km before he passed on. The run, eventually dubbed The Marathon of Hope was some sort of legacy and since then was emulated in many Terry Fox runs around the world.

I didn't knew about the run before this, which was held in KL annually, not to mention the epic proportions of it. What greeted me this morning was a sight rarely seen. People of various ages and nationality gathered at the park for the run, which was a free formed one. Meaning that you could either cycle, jog, run or rollerblade across the finish line.

Amazing huh! All in the name of cancer research!
